7th Annual CMW Auction Sets All-Time Record
- 2006 On September 23, 2006, CMW held its annual auction at the Folk Art Center.
The gallery of turned pieces was outstanding and sold quickly. The
selection of wood that was auctioned was impressive as was the quantity.
There was more wood available than at most symposiums. Numerous tools were
also available.
John Hill, our auctioneer, did a fabulous job, as did his wife
Patti. Many others helped including Don Rose, Warren Carpenter, Lee Holt,
Joe Ruminski, Bob Morris, Bruce Whipple, Bob Heltman, Patti Amos, Ray Galvin,
Ray Jones, Jim Nunziato (high up in the projection booth), Linda Hynson and Bob
Jolley.
The auction started at 10:00 a.m. and lasted for 5 1/2 hours. 502 lots
were sold; average one every 39 seconds. You can't get much faster than that!
$16,667.50 was taken in - checks written to those who sold items totaled
$6550.40, netting CMW $10,119.10 - the largest amount ever made at our auctions.
Besides their major roles at the auction, John and Patti did all the tabulations
after the event production the above numbers.
Thanks to everyone who helped and participated. - Bob Gunther
