Welcome
to Carolina Mountain Woodturners. Please take time to check out all of the
different opportunities that our club has to offer. We have monthly meetings
which allow us to have eleven demonstrators each year. These demonstrators are
from all parts of the world. The twelfth meeting is our annual auction in
September where everything from tools to collector art pieces is auctioned off.
If you come to one of our Saturday meetings plan
to bring a lunch. You will want to see the full demonstration and have plenty of
time to visit with other turners as well as inspect the turned pieces in the
instant gallery. We meet at the Folk Art Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway near
Asheville, NC. If you would like to just come by for a visit, you are always
welcome as all of our meetings are open to the public; 10:00 a.m. to about 4:00
p.m.. We do have about three hundred members. You’ll enjoy the presentations in
an auditorium meeting room where every one can see because of the audiovisual
set-up.
Some of the activities that go on throughout the
year include eight to ten classes offered to our members through our Turning
Learning Center. Yes, we have a mobile classroom with everything needed to set
up ten full working stations. We also use it to take part in the Southern
Highland Craft Guild Wood Day. Our TLC travels to schools, senior centers and
other locations to help introduce others to turning. Once or twice a year we
have folks travel to wood working shows to do demonstrations and promote CMW.
Carolina Mountain Woodturners is a 501(C) (3)
educational nonprofit organization. If you would like to join CMW or make a tax
deductible donation come to a meeting or get in touch with one of the officers.
I encourage you to explore the rest of our web
page for more information on these topics and many more. Our news letter is also
posted on the web monthly to keep you informed of the latest information and
happenings. If you have any questions please e-mail me and I will do what I can
to help or at least get you pointed in the right direction.
