Studio Cruise
What: A Studio Cruise is an event to
tour studios (shops) of fellow Carolina Mountain Woodturner
members. It can be a tour of 1 to 5 or more shops in a small
area such as a 5-mile radius.
Why: The
purpose of a Studio Cruise is to meet and socialize with
fellow members, learn how other members set up their shop,
build jigs, do special procedures, see what they make, and
have fun.
When: A
Studio Cruise can happen whenever someone wants to organize
one. They can be in the evening, afternoon, or an all day
event. The first
Studio Cruise was on October 9th, 2007. (More information in
this
newsletter.)
Who: The
Studio Cruises are open to members of Carolina Mountain
Woodturners. Members can bring one non-member guest if the
organizer allows it.
Where: A
Studio Cruise can happen wherever a member wants to have it.
You can organize one in your area.
How: If
you want to have a Studio Cruise in your area, contact
members you'd like to have in the tour, to see if they are
willing to participate. You can find members that live near
you by going to the CMW website, log into the “Member
Login”, click on “Locate members near you”, and follow
the instructions. Members of CMW can be notified by email of
the event. Maps to each shop can be emailed to those who
RSVP.
Members can
visit shops at random or tour the shops as a group in an
organized order as determined by the organizer. One option
is to have refreshments available at one of the shops.
Carpooling is encouraged to eliminate parking problems.
Contact: If you
have questions or need help with setting up your Studio
Cruise, contact
Gary Bills Bills. The above suggestions are only guidelines. The organizer
can make his Studio Cruise to suit their needs and desires. |
