Access to lathes, tools and experienced woodturners / mentors
- Turning learning center in Arden has 11 Oneway lathes and 1 Laguna lathe set up full time for member use
- Free use of woodturning tools, face shields, sharpening systems, power carving and woodburning tools
- Bring your own wood or select from the wood available at the TLC.
Monthly meetings with expert demonstrators, Instant Gallery, Raffles and Socialization
- Professional woodturners are brought in 11 months of the year to demonstrate new and interesting projects and techniques
- Members share their works in the monthly Instant Gallery
- Everyone gets a chance to socialize before the meeting, at lunch and during the raffle
- Demonstrations can be viewed live or on Zoom. Must be present at The Folk Art Center for Instant Gallery, Raffles and Socialization.
Woodturning classes for turners of all levels for a moderate fee
- Member led classes taught by experienced instructors geared towards newer members and social turning events
- Demonstrator led classes based on monthly meeting demonstrations. Geared towards turners of various experience levels
Open Turning at the Turning Learning Center (TLC)
- The full TLC facility is open for working on your own projects or getting guidance from an experienced turner most Saturdays and Thursday evenings
- When it isn’t open, we usually have a class or other event scheduled that you are welcome to join
Engage with other woodturners
- Meet and enjoy a community of like-minded individuals in one of the largest AAW Chapters, fostering idea sharing and collaboration
Instant Gallery – in person and on-line
- Members bring in recent works to share with other members
- These are shared live and photographed for the website where they can serve as inspiration
Annual Arrowmont Retreat
- Join other CMW members at the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts for fun filled days of turning, great food and building friendships with other turners.
- There are opportunities to learn for the newest to the most experienced turners
CMW Annual Auction
This event serves 2 purposes:
- Give members affordable access to quality woodturning tools they might not otherwise buy
- Raise some funds for CMW to support the various events that we all appreciate
Raffles
- Get access to wood, tools, gift cards and more for the price of a raffle ticket (monthly meetings)
Access to Member-Only Information
- Notices when Free Wood, Equipment for Sale or Woodturning Jobs are shared with CMW
