Tucker Garrison will demonstrate going from a sphere to a hollowed open form. Starting with a cylinder, a 4.5″ sphere will be formed then divided into 12 equal segments. A spherical chuck will be made that allows the sphere to be rotated to each of the 12 points in order to drill, shape and hollow. The turned form will then be cleaned up and marked to indicate the areas that will be removed using a power carver. The last step is to sand the interior and exterior surfaces to finish the piece.
